The Burriana Sports Gala brought together athletes, clubs, and authorities at the Payà Theater to acknowledge the most outstanding successes of the 2025 season. The City Council, through the Department of Sports and with the collaboration of the Municipal Sports Service and Tourism, hosted another edition of this event that highlights the city's sporting talent.
The ceremony began with a commemorative video reviewing the main accomplishments of Burriana's athletes over the past year. Additionally, the audience enjoyed kickboxing, karate, and cycling exhibitions, presented by local sports clubs and schools.
One of the evening's highlights was the presentation of institutional awards for the 2025 season. The prizes consisted of trophies exclusively designed for the occasion, promoted by the Tourism department with the aim of merging local heritage and sporting recognition.
The award recipients included Ilyas Ouadigh, for best male promising athlete in kickboxing; Adriana Rodríguez, best female promising athlete, also in kickboxing; Álvaro López, best male adapted athlete in swimming; Diego Guinot, best male absolute athlete in kayak-polo; and Alba Ruiz, best female absolute athlete in taekwondo.
Furthermore, Javier Cabrera received recognition as a collaborating company, while the Pioneers of Basketball were honored for their sporting trajectory.
During the gala, a special mention was also made of the strength record achieved by Roberto Perelló. Moreover, the daily contribution of the city's sports clubs in promoting physical activity and the values associated with sport was highlighted.
Alongside the main awards, local sports entities presented commemorative plaques and special recognitions to individuals closely linked to their activities.
The event concluded with a reception where athletes, families, club representatives, and authorities shared a celebration marked by effort and self-improvement.
The Councilor for Sports, Fran Capdevila, emphasized “the fundamental role and daily work of all the city's sports clubs in fostering physical activity and the values of La Plana Baixa”. He also noted that “this gala is a clear demonstration of the potential and quality of our athletes, who this season have filled our city's sporting medal tally”.
