The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has commenced the first phase of works to duplicate the N-340 as it passes through Oropesa, with an investment of 28.5 million euros aimed at improving traffic safety and flow.

The works, which began with the felling of existing trees, focus on adapting the current route of the N-340 between kilometers 992 and 998. This action is crucial for preparing the road for future duplication, transforming it into the first carriageway of the new design.
The project includes a comprehensive reorganization of accesses and the redesign of several existing intersections and partial interchanges. The main objective is to optimize connectivity and reduce traffic risks in this section, one of the busiest in the province of Castellón.
Among the most notable improvements is the construction of a new diamond-type interchange with an underpass roundabout at kilometer 992.7, known as the La Renegá interchange, which will facilitate access to this area and the local karting track. Additionally, the Oropesa partial interchange will be modified from a half-dumbbell configuration to a diamond-type design with dumbbells, maintaining the existing underpass.
Another key action is the replacement of the current T-intersection, located at kilometer 996, with a trumpet-type grade-separated interchange. This new structure will allow all possible movements between the N-340 and the AP-7 via an overpass, significantly improving the connection between both roads.
