Castelló's Plaza Mayor was the venue this Saturday for the End-of-Course Festival for Seniors' Physical Activities, an initiative by the Senior Citizens' Department that brought together over 200 participants. The event, part of the municipal active aging program, served to mark the end of the course and recognize the efforts of seniors throughout the year.
Councilwoman Adsuara highlighted the energy and participation of the seniors, stating that "our seniors are an example of vitality, participation, and a desire to continue enjoying life and the city." She emphasized the good fortune of having "active, involved seniors with an enormous capacity to continue bringing life to our neighborhoods and squares," and pointed to this celebration as "proof of the success of the many activities designed for them, prioritizing their quality of life."
During the morning, various dance styles were showcased, including ballroom dancing, line dancing, Zumba Gold, sevillanas, and bachata, as well as pilates, dance fitness, tai chi, and Fitlamc fitness. Participants from numerous associations and centers took part, including San José Obrero, Panderola, Virgen del Carmen, Segon Molí, Vedruna, Cremor, Azahar, Cardona Vives, the Asociación de Mujeres 8 de Marzo, CEA Castelló, CEA Urban, Columbretes, CEAM Avenida del Mar, and CEAM Constitución.
The festival adopted a circus theme, presenting each sports exhibition as a special act, complemented by performances of juggling, stilt walking, and balance exercises, creating a fun and original atmosphere.
Adsuara stressed that active aging "is not just about exercising," but also about "experiencing, strengthening social bonds, and maintaining active participation in the city." She also highlighted the fundamental role of senior associations and centers in promoting community and well-being activities.
The day concluded with a joint dance open to all attendees, bringing a successful close to a morning dedicated to participation and healthy leisure among Castelló's senior population.
