This regional program, part of the participatory local development strategies included in the PEPAC 2023-2027, aims to create non-agricultural micro-enterprises. The subsidies have a significant impact in the province of Castellón, benefiting several Leader areas linked to the interior and regions at risk of depopulation.
In the rural area Leader 1 Maestrat-Plana Alta, 176,000 euros have been allocated for 10 projects. The rural area 2 Altmaesports is one of the most benefited, with 228,000 euros designated for 12 initiatives. Area 3, corresponding to the Association for the Support of Integral Development of the Interior Regions, has received 190,000 euros for 10 applicants.
Additionally, the rural area Leader 4 Palancia-Mijares will receive 57,000 euros for three new rural initiatives, while in Castellón Sur, 51,000 euros have been granted for another three projects. These aids are managed through the Local Action Groups, responsible for evaluating projects and distributing funds, and are co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the Generalitat.
The main objective of the Ticket Rural is to foster the creation of new economic activities in rural municipalities, diversify the productive fabric, and contribute to retaining population in the territory. The selected projects stand out for their innovative nature and local roots, key elements to strengthen sustainability, employment, and quality of life in the interior of the province.
