The Senate's Transport Commission has approved a Popular Party motion demanding immediate government investment in critical infrastructure for the province of Castellón, including the interior highway and AP-7 access roads, despite the PSOE's opposing vote.

The Senate's Transport Commission has greenlit a Popular Party initiative urging the Government to immediately execute pending investments in Castellón province's road network. The motion, which seeks to unblock key infrastructure such as the interior highway and AP-7 access roads, passed despite a negative vote from the PSOE, a rejection that Castellón's Popular Party members have described as "another sign of punishment, incompetence, and condemnation" towards the territory's needs.
PPCS senators Jaume Llorens and Susana Marqués defended the proposal, which already has the backing of the Valencian Courts and the Castellón Provincial Council. Llorens lamented the socialists' stance, stating that "Sanchismo weighed more than defending their land," and criticized the PSPV regional senator for aligning with Pedro Sánchez's voting discipline rather than her own province.
For her part, Susana Marqués countered the opposition, denying a catastrophic view of the road network's situation. She emphasized that the deficiencies "are not an invention, but a palpable reality" for Castellón drivers, and called on the Ministry of Transport for "concrete actions, less institutional propaganda, and compliance with the committed execution calendar," which remains paralyzed.
The approved text urges the reactivation of strategic projects vital for road safety and the province's economic integration. Demands include the completion of the interior highway (section Vilanova d'Alcolea-La Jana), the resumption of works on the N-232 road at the port of Morella, and the construction of an underpass for this route in Sant Jordi.
Regarding the coastline and the Plana metropolitan area, the initiative calls for the execution of the diversion of the N-340 road through Les Alqueries, the creation of the northern access to Benicàssim, and the southern link in Torreblanca. The Popular Party considers it "non-negotiable" to urgently eliminate the so-called 'black stretch' of the N-340 between kilometers 940.8 and 954.2, an area with high accident rates.
Finally, the resolution demands speeding up works for new accesses from the AP-7 motorway towards Benicàssim, Vila-real, and Vinaròs. It also calls for the drafting of a specific communications plan for the inland regions of Castellón, aiming to provide development opportunities for rural towns and curb population loss.
