The Almassora City Council has awarded contracts for the setup of bullfighting events and the installation of bar stands, progressing in the organization of the Santa Quitèria 2026 festivities.

The preparation for the Santa Quitèria 2026 patron saint festivities in Almassora continues with the awarding of essential services to ensure the smooth running of the most crowded events. The council has formalized the contract with the company Cerrajería Ferroal 2019 SL for the assembly and organization of the bullfighting events, with an investment close to 55,000 euros.
This service will include the necessary logistics for the celebration of the traditional bous al carrer (bull runs), both during the Santa Quitèria festivities and those of the Fátima neighborhood. The festivities will begin on May 8 with the presentation of the queen and her court of honor, and will last until May 24. The bullfighting events will take place between May 16 and May 23, with the bull run featuring bulls from the Carmen Valiente ranch being one of the most anticipated events.
The awarded contract details the organizational complexity of these festivities, which include cow entries, bull exhibitions, and bull runs. For their execution, the participation of teams of four to eight operators is planned, in addition to the necessary machinery and technical means for each event. Among the tasks of the awarded company are the assembly and disassembly of barriers, stands, and protection structures, the installation of grandstands, the conditioning of the bullfighting enclosure, and the watering of the sand in the arenas.
Furthermore, the tender includes complementary works such as the removal of urban furniture, the signaling of spaces, the provision of infirmaries, and the cleaning and maintenance of the facilities, all in compliance with the current regional regulations on traditional bullfighting events.
In parallel, the City Council has awarded the service for the placement and operation of removable bar stands for events and festivities throughout 2026, with a budget of 12,400 euros. This measure will reinforce the offer of services during the festive events. With these actions, the council advances in the planning of festivities that are expected to attract high local participation and a significant influx of visitors, with the bullfighting events being one of the main attractions of the program.

"The bous al carrer are part of Almassora's festive identity and every year they bring together numerous residents and visitors who share this tradition with responsibility and respect. The bous al carrer are culture and also have a huge economic impact."
