The Castellón City Council has reached an agreement with the Ministry of Public Works for the transfer of lighting at the N-340 roundabouts in the Venta Rosita and Venta Nova areas, a long-standing demand from residents.
The First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Urban Planning and Infrastructure, Sergio Toledo, along with the Deputy Mayor for the West District, Vicent Sales, met with representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, including Guillermo Llopis, Head of the State Road Demarcation in the Valencian Community, and José Ignacio Suárez, Head of the State Road Unit in Castellón. The meeting, held on April 6, 2026, addressed the issue of lighting near the N-340, specifically in the Venta Rosita and Venta Nova areas.

"This working meeting with the Ministry representatives has been a complete success. A long-awaited encounter that has been very fruitful for the interests of the residents of the city of Castellón and, more specifically, for those of Venta Rosita and Venta Nova."
During the meeting, a written agreement was formalized, establishing the transfer of the streetlights at the roundabouts connecting the N-340 to the Castellón City Council. This measure aims to resolve a problem that has affected road safety and resident security for years, as the streetlights will now remain permanently lit.
Toledo highlighted the Ministry's willingness to address the situation, emphasizing the institutional collaboration that will benefit Castellón residents, especially those in the areas west and east of the N-340, connected to the Alcora CV-16 road.

"This agreement with the Ministry has involved a lot of effort and work, which makes the satisfaction even greater."
For his part, Vicent Sales emphasized that the agreement is an example of the municipal government's commitment, led by Mayor Begoña Carrasco, to the citizens of Castellón. He noted that, unlike the previous government, the current administration has moved from words to action to achieve the transfer of lighting ownership.
Finally, Sergio Toledo expressed his hope that this meeting will be the starting point for future agreements with the Ministry of Public Works, with the aim of improving the city's road infrastructure and the quality of life for Castellón residents.
