The process to award the new street cleaning and waste collection contract in Benidorm, valued at 250 million euros, has accumulated a five-month delay since the proposals were opened.

The processing of this service, which will cover a period of ten years plus a transition year, is currently in the technical evaluation phase. The Socialist Municipal Group has denounced the situation, describing it as a paralysis and recalling that the current service has been operating with an expired concession for more than seven years.
According to the Contracting department, the procedure is highly complex. Municipal technicians must analyze in detail the logistics base and the services proposed by the three bidding companies before issuing the necessary reports to convene the contracting board.
The local government has defended the work of the civil servants and has asked that there be no interference in the technical work. Likewise, it has rejected the criticisms regarding the management, noting that the process is following its usual administrative course to ensure the correct awarding of the service.
