The Socialist Party of the Valencian Country (PSPV-PSOE) in Xàbia has expressed concern over the City Council's decision to collect waste, vado, and vehicle fees on April 1 without any prior communication, a situation that has recurred for the second consecutive year.

The socialists in Xàbia have publicly voiced their complaint regarding the lack of information about the voluntary payment period, which runs from March 2 to June 5. This situation directly impacts citizens' tax obligations, including urban solid waste collection, vado permits, and vehicle taxes.

"We are talking about important fiscal obligations that affect both families and businesses, and that require a minimum of economic foresight."

The PSPV of Xàbia considers it “incomprehensible and irresponsible” that the local government has not used social media or other usual information channels to warn of these collections. This lack of notice is especially problematic for citizens who have these bills direct debited, as the charge is made directly to their bank account.

"Not giving notice can lead to bank overdrafts or economic difficulties for both families and businesses that have not been able to organize themselves in advance."

The socialist group emphasizes that, although the information may be available on the electronic tax office, most citizens do not access it unless strictly necessary. Therefore, they insist on the City Council's responsibility to provide information in an accessible and proactive manner.
Furthermore, they criticize that, while relevant information communication is neglected, “municipal social media is constantly used for less important content.” This situation, according to the PSOE of Xàbia, demonstrates a “worrying lack of planning and sensitivity towards citizens,” and they demand that the government establish effective communication mechanisms to prevent future recurrences.
