This initiative, a result of the collaboration between Pedreguer's Department of Equality and Inclusive Policies and Irene Ballester Buigues, a professor at the University of Valencia and an expert in feminist studies, is established as a meeting point for critical reflection on the seventh art.
The club operates similarly to a book club: participants will watch films beforehand at home. The in-person sessions, held at the Municipal House of Culture in Pedreguer, will be dedicated to sharing impressions, analyzing scenes and dialogues, and delving into a feminist interpretation of the works. The main goal is to question traditional narratives and foster debate on the representation of women, gender roles, and inequalities in audiovisual media.
This initiative is aimed at all citizens interested in cinema and in building critical perspectives. The project is part of Pedreguer's municipal actions to promote equality and feminist reflection in the cultural sphere, creating spaces where other stories and narratives can be imagined.
The sessions will be facilitated by Irene Ballester Buigues herself, who will guide participants with collective analysis tools. The meetings will take place from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on the following dates: April 16 and 30, May 14 and 28, and June 11.
