The Xàbia City Council has presented a proposal for a provisional school center with temporary classrooms in the Freginal area, which includes the use of its patios for afternoon sports activities, sparking debate among local clubs.

The proposal, outlined by the mayor at the Sports Council, seeks to address urgent educational demand without abandoning sports facilities. However, it has generated disappointment and doubts among clubs, who had already expressed their rejection of the idea of locating the school center where the second sports pavilion was planned.
The local government, formed by PP and Ciudadanos por Jávea, has defended the measure as a provisional five-year solution, until a definitive school is built on Avenida dels Furs. The mayor insisted on acting realistically given the structural lack of land for facilities, proposing a dual-use model for the spaces.

"Given the structural lack of land for facilities dragged on for years, we must act realistically through a dual-use model of spaces, so that the patios and annexed facilities of the provisional school can have an educational use during school hours and sports use outside school hours."

In addition to the use of the patios, the proposal includes the creation of a small football field and the possibility of covering the existing indoor football court. The mayor assured that the construction of a second pavilion, with a budget of 8 million euros, is currently “unfeasible”.
Club representatives and the PSOE have expressed concern about the possible extension of the provisional period beyond the promised five years, recalling cases of other centers that have been in temporary classrooms for much longer. The PSOE also questioned the infeasibility of the second pavilion, stating that the project was ready for tender and that the city council has the financial capacity to undertake it.
