The Ministry of Justice, Transparency, and Participation has concluded the accessibility improvement works at the Pardo Gimeno judicial headquarters, located at Pardo Gimeno Street, 43, in Alicante. These actions have adapted various areas of the building to eliminate physical barriers and enhance services for individuals with functional diversity.
Court counters, from the second floor to the attic, have been adapted with accessible service points and magnetic loop systems to aid communication for individuals with hearing impairments. The total investment amounted to 371,712 euros, aiming to ensure universal, safe, and non-discriminatory access to judicial facilities for all citizens.
Additionally, ten magnetic loops have been installed in courtrooms and multipurpose rooms, as well as in elevators, alongside accessible control panels. Restrooms have also been renovated into accessible hygienic facilities, featuring wider doors and assistance systems.
The works included the installation of accessible mechanisms in the operational areas, improved horizontal signage to guide access to counters, stairs, and ramps, and the incorporation of vertical signage in braille and high relief throughout the building.
Furthermore, a new door has been added to the assembly hall to facilitate access to the stage, and ramps have been incorporated into all ten courtrooms to ensure accessibility to the judicial benches.
Through this intervention, the Ministry of Justice takes another step towards enhancing accessibility in judicial infrastructures, moving towards more inclusive spaces tailored to the needs of all citizens.
