A fire in a Xàbia pine forest, detected by surveillance cameras, was rapidly controlled by emergency services before the Sant Joan Night celebration.

Surveillance technology enabled the detection of a fire outbreak in a dense pine forest located within Xàbia's municipality, which threatened to become the summer's first major forest fire. Cameras situated in Poble Nou de Benitatxell captured the smoke emerging from the Tarraula area.
The incident occurred yesterday, Wednesday, at 7:43 PM, coinciding with preparations for Sant Joan Night in Xàbia, a festival marked by bonfires. However, a different and more dangerous fire threatened a significant wooded area.
Immediately, Civil Protection personnel from Poble Nou alerted the Xàbia Local Police, and firefighters also responded. The swift operation managed to contain the flames quickly, thus avoiding severe environmental consequences and potential personal harm, as there were chalets near the affected area. The relative calm of the wind during those evening hours facilitated the extinction efforts.
