Renovation works at the Xàbia Nautical Club have already begun. The Minister of Territory, Vicente Martínez Mus, visited the facilities this Friday, recalling that this is an initiative resulting from public-private collaboration between the Generalitat and the concessionaire, with an investment exceeding 5 million euros. The goal is to transform the facilities into a greener area, more accessible to both residents and tourists.
The project, with an 18-month execution period, involves the urbanization of 12,500 square meters. It will include spaces for pedestrian use, circulation, a 123-space parking lot, sports facilities, garden areas, a viewpoint terrace overlooking the bay, a sailing school, and a new breakwater designed to optimize the entire water surface of the port.
The first phase, already underway, focuses on resurfacing the access roads and constructing the breakwater. This action will allow, along with reordering, for 40 new moorings and the improvement of urban furniture.
Starting in September, the most significant works will be undertaken, such as the parking area, which will feature a dry stone aesthetic and be crowned by a public square serving as a viewpoint. These tasks will be carried out after the summer to avoid impacting the tourist season.
Minister Martínez Mus, accompanied by the mayor of Xàbia, Rosa Cardona, and the Director General of Ports, Marca García Manzana, highlighted the involvement of the city council in this project. The Generalitat has extended the concession of the Nautical Club until 2053, expanding the concession area.
Additionally, the Generalitat has announced other investments in Xàbia, such as the renovation of the wastewater pumping station and the installation of solar panels on port infrastructure, with a joint investment of 350,000 euros. Modernization works on the Nou Fontana port are also continuing, with an investment of 2.1 million euros. In total, the actions in the Xàbia port area amount to an investment of 7.5 million euros.
