A vessel ignored the buoys in Xàbia, anchoring on oceanic posidonia in Cala Blanca, to the bewilderment of the present swimmers.

The crew of a vessel violated navigation rules in Xàbia yesterday afternoon, anchoring in a designated bathing area and on protected oceanic posidonia seabed. Despite the presence of buoys clearly marking the bathing zone of Cala Blanca and the line towards the open sea, the boat entered the restricted area, disregarding the signage.
Onlooker swimmers expressed their bewilderment at the boaters' actions. This coastline, including Cala Blanca and Cala de la Sardinera, is known for its high nautical pressure, being one of the most affected in the Valencian Community. Typically, boaters respect the buoys and use the ecological mooring buoys, designed to prevent damage to the posidonia meadows. Dropping anchor on these protected seabeds is a serious offense, punishable by fines ranging from 3,001 to 200,000 euros.
The crew of the vessel that entered the bathing area yesterday broke all regulations, attempting to get as close to the shore as possible. Swimmers lamented the lack of surveillance and the inability to penalize those responsible. It is reminded that buoys are essential for delineating bathing areas and ensuring the safety of swimmers from boats and jet skis.
