Marijuana Plantation Dismantled in Dénia with Fugitive from Lithuania

The National Police has dismantled a marijuana plantation in a villa in Dénia, arresting two men, one of whom was wanted by Lithuanian authorities for drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.

Agents of the National Police arrested two individuals, aged 34 and 56, in Dénia, accused of drug trafficking, electricity fraud, and belonging to a criminal group. The operation culminated in the dismantling of an indoor marijuana plantation, located in a detached house in a rural area of the town.
The investigation began after information was received by the National Police about the possible existence of a marijuana plantation in a house on the outskirts of the capital of Marina Alta. Agents from the Judicial Police of the Dénia Police Station carried out inquiries to determine the ownership of the investigated property, which had been rented for three years to a man.
During the investigations, researchers detected irregularities in the identity documents presented by the tenant, confirming that it was a false document. This practice is common in such activities to hinder police action. Furthermore, evidence of unusual electricity consumption in the area was found, another characteristic factor of indoor marijuana plantations.
With judicial authorization, agents searched the property, finding the marijuana plantation. The operation resulted in the arrest of the two men and the seizure of 30.70 kilograms of marijuana buds. Three kilograms were already vacuum-packed and ready for transport, hidden in a false ceiling on the upper floor. Also found were 79 marijuana plants in full production in a secondary house, along with all the necessary infrastructure for cultivation, such as fans, extractors, and soil.
It was confirmed that the plantation was supplied with electricity through an illegal connection to the general supply network. One of the detainees, who initially identified himself with false data, turned out to have a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) from Lithuania for drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. After police proceedings, the detainee with the international warrant was transferred to the Audiencia Nacional, while the other was placed at the disposal of the investigating courts of Dénia.
