The National Police has dismantled a marijuana plantation inside a home in Dénia, leading to the arrest of two men, one of whom was internationally wanted by Lithuania for drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.

The police operation began following intelligence reports indicating the possible existence of an illegal cultivation in a detached house located in a rural area of Dénia, on the Alicante coast. Officers from the Judicial Police of the local station confirmed that the property had been rented for three years to an individual who had provided a false identity document.
During the investigation, an unusual electricity consumption was detected at the property, a characteristic indicator of this type of illegal plantations. This anomaly strengthened the investigators' suspicions, leading them to carry out a search of the residence.
During the search, officers discovered a large-scale marijuana plantation, complete with all the necessary infrastructure for its cultivation. A total of 30.70 kilograms of cannabis buds were seized, three kilograms of which were vacuum-packed and hidden in a false ceiling on the upper floor. Additionally, 79 plants in full production were found in an annexed structure.
The officers also verified that the property's electrical installation was fraudulently connected to the general grid. During the operation, one of the detainees attempted to conceal his true identity, but investigators managed to identify him and confirm that he was subject to an active European arrest warrant issued by Lithuania.
The two men, aged 34 and 56, are accused of drug trafficking, electricity fraud, and belonging to a criminal group. The internationally wanted detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent court of the Audiencia Nacional, while the other arrested individual was brought before the investigating courts of Dénia.
