The investigation began following information about the possible existence of a plantation in a single-family home located in a rural area of Dénia. Officers confirmed that the property had been rented for three years to an individual who had used false documentation to hinder police action.
Inquiries revealed unusual electricity consumption, a common indicator in this type of illegal cultivation. This evidence led to a request for judicial authorization for a search and entry into the domicile.
During the operation, officers discovered a complete infrastructure for marijuana cultivation, including 79 plants in full production, as well as fans, extractors, and other specialized equipment. Additionally, 30.70 kilograms of marijuana buds were seized, three of which were already vacuum-packed and ready for distribution, hidden in the false ceiling of the upper floor of the residence.
The plantation was supplied through an illegal connection to the electrical grid, constituting an additional crime of electricity fraud. One of the detainees initially attempted to conceal his identity, but investigators managed to verify his true details, confirming that he was subject to a European arrest warrant for drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.
Following the relevant proceedings, the detainee with the European warrant was placed at the disposal of the competent court of the Audiencia Nacional, while the other arrested individual was brought before the investigating courts of Dénia.
