The exhibition, which can be visited in the rooms of Espai Castejón and the Casa de la Cultura de Dénia since April 9, brings together 79 works created since 1979. These pieces are the result of the singer's stays in various countries and utilize techniques such as watercolor and pastel.
Bonet presents a selection of still lifes, personal interpretations of animal figures, and, especially, natural landscapes and urban scenes captured during her many travels. According to a spokesperson, the exhibition is a journey through her intimate itineraries, full of poetry and first-hand experiences.
“"Painting brings me meditation, silence, creativity… It transports me to another world. You are engaged in an activity that absorbs you and makes you forget everything else."
To delve into her pictorial facet, Maria del Mar Bonet will arrive this Thursday, April 23, in Dénia to offer a public talk at the Casa de la Cultura at 7:30 PM. The event, organized by the Fundació Creativa Dénia, will provide an opportunity to learn about the details of this creative activity that the artist has maintained in parallel with her musical career.
The artist has stated that she does not paint from memory, but always in front of a real landscape or still life. Furthermore, she has highlighted the importance of light in her work, especially that found in the País Valencià, which she considers very enriching. Her artistic training includes studies in Mallorca, at the Escola d'Art i Disseny Massana, and in the ceramics workshop of l'Aguadé.
The exhibition includes a series, «Tagounite», made with earth from Morocco, a technique she experimented with to capture the reality of the landscapes. The exhibition has traveled through various towns in the País Valencià, such as Alcoy, Xàtiva, and soon Gandia, a surprise for the artist, who initially had no intention of exhibiting her work.
