“"We have supported that office with an administrative assistant who registers vulnerable situation applications in a specific agenda. Afterwards, these are forwarded to Social Services, who are responsible for scheduling appointments for social workers to individually assess each person's situation and issue the report if necessary."

Dénia City Council has launched a special operation to manage the increase in migrant regularization applications, coordinating the Citizen Attention Office and Social Welfare to streamline procedures.
Hundreds of people in Marina Alta are eager to benefit from the extraordinary migrant regularization process approved by the Central Government. Many essential documents for this procedure are obtained from local councils, leading to a greater influx of people in municipalities such as Dénia, Xàbia, and Calp.
Given the increased workload, Dénia City Council has implemented a special protocol involving two municipal areas. The Citizen Attention Office (OAC) is crucial for obtaining the registration certificate, which proves residency in Spain for at least five months. Additionally, the Social Welfare department handles vulnerability reports, necessary for specific cases.
The Social Welfare councilor explained that approximately 180 weekly appointments have been established for vulnerability reports, intended for individuals without economic resources or employment. She highlighted the department's effort to ensure all documentation is available promptly, thereby facilitating the process.
Once municipal documents are obtained, the period for applying for regularization began last Monday and will extend until June 30, 2026. Applications can be submitted in person at Immigration Offices, Social Security offices, or Post Offices, or online via the website of the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration.
The objective of this regularization is to offer legal certainty and facilitate the social and labor integration of people residing in the country before December 31, 2025, many of whom are fundamental to the labor market in regions like Marina Alta, especially in the tourism, hospitality, and commerce sectors.
