The Xàtiva Bullring marks a decade closed to the public today, having become a symbol of institutional paralysis and a constant point of friction between the local government and the opposition.

The venue, which underwent renovation ten years ago, is currently inactive. According to municipal data, the initial project suffered a 100% cost overrun, rising from a budget of 6 million euros to a final cost of 12 million, leaving the work unfinished and with structural deficiencies that prevent its opening.
The current executive of Xàtiva maintains that the situation is a consequence of management from previous stages, describing the state of the square as a legacy of waste. Meanwhile, the main opposition group in the Xàtiva City Council denounces systematic abandonment and demands access to the facilities to verify their actual condition, criticizing that the city is losing the economic impact that major events would bring.

"Roger Cerdà does not want the neighbors to see how the square really is after ten years of inaction."

The future of the venue is now linked to the debate on regional financing. The city council points out that cuts in key investments by the Generalitat Valenciana have limited the city's ability to convert this space into a functional multi-purpose infrastructure for the public.
