The city of Xàtiva has prepared an intense program for next Saturday, April 25th, dedicated to the traditional homage to the Maulets, commemorating the heroic defense of the city in 1707 against the Bourbon troops.

The Xàtiva City Council has designed a celebration that unites historical memory with the vitality of popular culture, turning the streets of the old town into the main stage for one of the most significant events in the Xàtiva calendar.
The day will officially begin at 10:30 AM with a gathering of dancers, musicians, and participants of the 'dansada' at the doors of the Casa de Cultura. From this point, a parade will start, touring Montcada street to bring the rhythm and color of the festival to Sant Francesc Square, where the central commemorative act will take place from 11:30 AM.
This institutional act will include various traditional dance performances by the Grup de Danses Socarrel and the Colla de dolçainers i tabaleters La Socarrà. One of the key moments of the morning will be the reading of the manifesto, which this year falls to Xavier Serra, philosopher, professor, and member of Plataforma per la Llengua. Afterwards, the mayor of Xàtiva, Roger Cerdà, will speak.
As a symbol of respect and remembrance, a laurel wreath will be laid at the Maulets monument with the active participation of the Muixeranga de Xàtiva, which will perform the closing human tower along with the Colla La Socarrà to conclude the official protocol.
Saturday's program will be completed with a playful and family-friendly aspect in the courtyard of the Casa de Cultura, where the character of Monstre Petorro will offer a free show of theater, music, and magic designed for the participation of the youngest. In addition, this year's agenda extends throughout the weekend with a second event on Sunday, April 26th, when at 12 PM the Gran Teatre will host a performance by the Escola de Danses de Xàtiva and the Grup de Danses i Cançons de Castalla under the title De castell a castell.

"This celebration is not an act of nostalgia, but a way to remember the past to demand a freer and more Valencian present and future, especially in a context where the language continues to suffer aggressions."

Alfred Boluda · Councillor for Culture
With these activities, Xàtiva reaffirms its role as a benchmark for popular culture and the identity of the Valencian people.
