The mayor of Xàtiva, Roger Cerdà, has confirmed the administrative unblocking of the project, which will allow work to begin on this emblematic 14th-century building. Cerdà highlighted the importance of this step for the city and emphasized the City Council's effort to ensure that the legacy of the Xàtiva singer-songwriter has the space it deserves.
This boost comes after the Consell de la Generalitat withdrew a three-million-euro agreement for the center and demanded funds already executed. The mayor lamented the current Consell's lack of commitment, calling their attitude "sectarianism".
“"Faced with the sectarianism of some, we respond with management and alliances."
The intervention in the Monastery of Santa Clara not only seeks to recover a degraded historic building but also to create an international cultural hub. The work plan includes the structural consolidation of the naves, the adaptation of museum rooms to house the art donation and archive of Raimon and Annalisa Corti, and the creation of multipurpose spaces for musical research, literature, and cultural revitalization of the region.
The support of the vice president of the Diputación, Natàlia Enguix, has been key to the viability of this first phase. The Xàtiva council trusts that these works will be the definitive driving force to make the Raimon Center a tangible reality in the coming months and restore splendor to one of the city's most important monuments.
