Works to rehabilitate the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara in Xàtiva, which will house the Centre Raimon d'Activitats Culturals (CRAC), are set to begin soon thanks to a one-million-euro subsidy from the Diputación de València, as announced by Mayor Roger Cerdà.

The mayor of Xàtiva, Roger Cerdà, celebrated on social media that this action will allow for a cultural center of reference. The Diputación de València plans to grant this subsidy within its new heritage rehabilitation plan, news advanced by Levante-EMV and confirmed on Wednesday by the provincial corporation's vice president, Natàlia Enguix (Ens Uneix).
Enguix explained that the Diputación is working to approve the resolution of the heritage recovery plan next week, endowed with approximately 12 million euros and the first of its kind since 2017. She specified that this plan includes aid for assets of cultural interest (BIC) with a maximum of one million euros and assets of local relevance (BRL) with half a million euros.
The vice president indicated that the request for the Raimon Center by the Xàtiva City Council is included in these aids, as it meets the criteria to obtain the one million euros for being a BIC. She added that, if there are no setbacks, the rest of the subsidized actions within the heritage recovery plan can be announced next week.

"We have learned that the Diputación will subsidize the rehabilitation works of Santa Clara to transform the building into the Raimon Center. This news contrasts with the fact that the Generalitat has decided not to renew the financing agreement, which foresaw about three million euros, for this intervention."

The mayor stressed that the Consell is demanding the reimbursement of 399,265.56 euros already paid for the rehabilitation of the Royal Monastery from the City Council, in the procedure for the termination of the agreement. For the mayor, this situation highlights an "absolutely sectarian" attitude of the Generalitat towards a project that seeks to promote tourism in the city, create a high-level cultural center, and rehabilitate an important part of its heritage.
The CRAC project, designed by the architecture studios of Ramón Esteve and Carlos Campos, is a tribute to the singer-songwriter Raimon from Xàtiva. It will host various cultural activities such as exhibitions, conferences, concerts, and artistic events, becoming a "living space for creation and cultural dissemination." A comprehensive architectural and museographic intervention is planned for the monumental complex of the Monastery of Santa Clara, respecting the original structure and focusing on structural consolidation, restoration of heritage elements, and the provision of equipment for cultural uses.
