The Museo de la Rajoleria in Paiporta will host the 'Innovation for Recovery 2026' conference on May 7, a key event to discuss the recovery of municipalities affected by the DANA.

The conference, now in its second edition, aims to lay the groundwork for a future Citizen Observatory of Recovery. The goal is to move beyond infrastructure repair and focus on the capacity of communities to redesign their future, reducing vulnerabilities to future extreme weather events.
Organized jointly by elDiario.es, the Paiporta City Council, and the international network Placemaking Europe, the event will begin at 09:30 AM. It will serve as a space for technical and social dialogue to address the pending challenges after the catastrophe.
One of the central points of the morning session will be the presentation of the results of a citizen survey launched by elDiario.es. This qualitative and quantitative study will form the basis of the new observatory, allowing the voice of residents and local entities to guide reconstruction policies.

"It is not just about rebuilding what was there, but about applying innovation methodology to reduce vulnerabilities to future extreme climatic events."

The forum will feature a significant international component. The first session on resilience and sustainability will be led by Jenny Andersson, a regenerative strategist and designer, who will provide her vision on economic, social, and ecological strategies adapted to the context. The debate will include speakers such as the deputy mayor of Paiporta, Marian Val, and representatives of territorial groups like Per l’Horta.
The management of infrastructures and basic services will be analyzed by Fredrik Lindstål, former deputy mayor of Stockholm, who will share his experience in urban governance. Technical figures such as Teodoro Estrela, representative of the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ), will join this panel to discuss water planning and sustainable mobility.
The afternoon will be dedicated to analyzing social fracture. Guillermo Bernal (The Place Institute) will lead the session on the recovery of community ties and cultural identity, accompanied by sociologist Antonio Ariño and University of Valencia professor Ana Camarasa. The final panel will focus on proximity politics, moderated by the director of elDiario.es in the Valencian Community, Sergi Pitarch. Mayors such as those of Paiporta (Vicent Císcar), Catarroja (Lorena Silvent), and Riba-roja (Robert Raga) will present their experiences. The closing of the conference will be led by MEP Marcos Ros, rapporteur in the European Parliament for the New European Bauhaus, and the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant.
