The Compromís councilwoman in Picassent, Leticia Hernandis, has resigned from the Commerce department and her exclusive dedication, although she will remain in the municipal corporation.

The Compromís councilwoman in Picassent, Leticia Hernandis, has resigned from the Commerce department and will cease to have exclusive dedication, although she will continue to be part of the municipal corporation and will maintain the rest of her responsibilities. This decision comes three weeks after Hernandis announced her resignation from all municipal positions for personal reasons, a departure that had not yet been made effective as it still needed to be formalized before the municipal plenary.
Subsequently, the councilwoman withdrew her resignation after her continuity was discussed in an extraordinary assembly of Compromís per Picassent held on June 20. The party also renewed its local leadership, now headed by Francesc Felipe. Following that backtrack, Hernandis has now communicated a limited resignation from the Commerce area and her exclusive dedication. The responsibility will be managed by her group colleague Juanfran Albert.

I have been accused of being an obstacle

Leticia Hernandis explained that she has made the decision "consciously and reflectively" after receiving criticism in recent months regarding her management of commercial policy. "From some sectors, I have been accused of being an obstacle to the promotion of local commerce, and nothing concerns me more than the well-being of all the brave men and women who raise the shutters every morning to offer us a proximity service," stated the councilwoman.
Her departure from the department comes after disagreements arose between the councilwoman and parts of the municipality's commercial sector, a situation that preceded the initial resignation announcement and also affected the internal functioning of Compromís per Picassent.
Hernandis assured that she is leaving the delegation with several projects already prepared. Among them is a new system of commerce vouchers, which is scheduled to be approved at the next municipal plenary. The councilwoman added that the tender documents for the next Commerce and Tapas Fair are ready for publication and that she has signed a draft agreement with the Association of Merchants to facilitate collaboration between both parties.
The councilwoman particularly defended the outcome of the 2025 Picassent Commerce Fair, which brought together more than thirty exhibitors in the Plaza de la Ermita and, according to Hernandis, broke participation records. "Picassent's commerce is in good hands, in those of my group colleague Juanfran Albert," she noted.
Leticia Hernandis will continue working on the necessary modifications to reactivate the municipal market and on training policies, with the aim of making the locality's training offerings a regional benchmark. The councilwoman also thanked the mayor of Picassent, Conxa García, for the trust placed in her when she assigned her the Commerce delegation.
The new distribution of responsibilities will now need to be finalized within the municipal government of Picassent, formed by PSPV and Compromís, after several weeks marked by changes within the Valencianist group.
