Representatives from various victim associations of the October 29th DANA gathered outside the Congress of Deputies to demand the revocation of immunity for the former president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón.

The Association of Victims of the DANA of October 29th has filed an appeal for protection with the Constitutional Court aiming for Carlos Mazón, currently a deputy for the Popular Party in Les Corts Valencianes, to be tried in the local court of Catarroja for his role in managing the emergency. The associations argue that Mazón makes an "spurious use" of his immunity, retaining his seat solely to avoid investigation in the judicial case being handled by judge Nuria Ruiz Tobarra.
The association's lawyer, Miriam Salmerón, recalled that they had already filed a petition for protection with the Constitutional Court following the refusal of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) to investigate Mazón. According to Salmerón, they have proven that Mazón makes "spurious use" of his seat and that there is no functional link between the alleged crimes and his position as a deputy. She also criticized the TSJCV's actions, which she believes "usurped functions belonging to a provincial court" by refusing to investigate Mazón.
The president of the Association of Victims of the DANA of October 29th, 2024, Mariló Gradolí, stated that the Constitutional Court "has a duty to listen to the victims" and that this is "a historic opportunity" to prioritize them over "a privilege like immunity." She appealed to the court members' empathy to understand the pain of the families of those who died.
For his part, the president of the Association of Affected by DANA-L'Horta Sud, Álex Carabal, suggested that the PP should request the resignation of its former leader in Valencia. Carabal criticized that "videos are still in a drawer" and referred to messages where Mazón suggested "flooding" the media with data to give the impression of being "extremely alert."
Ernesto Martínez, from the Association of Victims of the DANA 29-O Fatalities, questioned "how many lies have been hidden" and compared the situation to the revocation of Carles Puigdemont's seat, asking why the same is not done for Mazón, whom he believes "it is more than proven that he had responsibilities he did not fulfill."
Toñi García, whose husband and daughter died, insisted that "responsibilities are still not being taken" for the catastrophe and pointed out that Mazón "laughs in the face of his entire Valencian people" by not attending his seat in the regional courts, "for which he is paid."
