These actions will allow intervention in key urban spaces and facilities for the daily life of the town. The authorized projects include the redevelopment of the Vicente Navarro Soler area and adjacent streets, the redevelopment of the Los Grupos neighborhood and part of Paiporta Avenue, and the rehabilitation of the El Molí Cultural Center.
In the Vicente Navarro Soler area, a comprehensive transformation of one of the main arteries of the municipality, severely affected by the flood, will be carried out. The works include the demolition of deteriorated pavements and their replacement, as well as the complete renovation of sanitation, drinking water, and drainage networks. Accessibility improvements are also planned with wider sidewalks and adapted pedestrian crossings, a traffic reorganization, and the incorporation of sustainable drainage solutions. In addition, security in school and sports environments will be reinforced.
The second action will focus on the Los Grupos neighborhood and part of Paiporta Avenue, a residential area particularly hard hit by the DANA. Here, streets and sidewalks will be rebuilt, curbs and pavements replaced, and sanitation, drinking water, and irrigation networks fully renovated. The project also includes the repair of public lighting, the replacement of damaged streetlights and electrical manholes, the repositioning of road signs, and the recovery of green areas with new trees.
Finally, the third intervention will affect the El Molí Cultural Center, one of the most important cultural facilities in Benetússer, whose ground floor was particularly damaged by water and mud ingress. The rehabilitation includes the complete renovation of electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and fire protection installations, as well as the replacement of affected pavements, coverings, carpentry, and equipment. The project also incorporates improvements to increase the building's safety against future floods.
With these three new approvals, the Benetússer City Council now has 25 reports accepted by the Ministry out of the 37 projects that make up the municipality's reconstruction plan. The council thus continues to advance in a process that seeks not only to repair the effects of the flood but also to provide the municipality with more modern, accessible, and better-prepared public spaces and facilities for future extreme weather events.
