The PSPV of Paterna commemorated Republic Day on April 14 with a floral offering at the Paredón de España, a memorial site where victims of Franco's repression were remembered.

The event brought together institutional representatives, militants, and victims' families in a ceremony that included a floral offering to the repressed individuals. Participants in this tribute included, among others, the mayor of Paterna and local PSPV secretary general, Juan Antonio Sagredo; the provincial PSPV secretary general, Carlos Fernández Bielsa; provincial deputy Núria Campos; the provincial deputy secretary of the party, Sonia Borruey; and the organization secretary of Joves Socialistes de Paterna, Johana Gómez.

"On this 95th anniversary of the proclamation of the Second Republic, it is important to remember that true concord does not consist of erasing memory, as some intend, but in dignifying, recognizing, and repairing the victims and their families."

Sagredo affirmed that in Paterna, “we have done it with respect, without noise and without division, always putting people first.” Also speaking at the event were the secretary of Democratic Memory of the provincial PSPV, Matías Alonso, and Johana Gómez, who emphasized the importance of continuing to defend democratic memory.
For his part, Carlos Fernández Bielsa thanked Sagredo “for the silent effort made to recover the bodies of so many victims and restore their identity and dignity” and advocated for continued work to consolidate the Paredón de España as a space of remembrance.
The PSPV of Paterna highlighted the work carried out in the city in recent years regarding democratic memory. According to the party, during this time, more than 80 graves have been opened, around 1,600 bodies exhumed, and nearly 200 victims identified, in addition to promoting outreach initiatives and support for families. Among these, they highlighted the exhibition dedicated to the 20 Roses of Paterna.
