The President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, has defended the government pact with Vox in his first public television interview and addressed the management of the DANA, as well as the new regional funding model.

During his appearance on Antena 3's 'Espejo Público' program, Pérez Llorca was questioned by Susana Griso about whether the agreement with Vox could be a burden for Feijóo's Popular Party. The president responded that the decision of who governs rests with the citizens and that his obligation was to ensure governability.

"The decision of who governs is made by the citizens, and our obligation was to seek governability."

Llorca, considered an "expert negotiator" and "architect" of the first regional pact with Vox in 2023, acknowledged that the "express" agreement generated controversy but stated that time has proven them right, highlighting the ultraconservative party's support in approving the budget for post-DANA reconstruction.
Regarding the management of the DANA, Pérez Llorca admitted that administrations "did not know how to foresee what was going to happen" and that "we were not prepared for such a tragedy." He emphasized the need to improve Aemet's warning systems and called for regulatory changes to streamline pending hydraulic works and the execution of reconstruction funds.
On regional funding, the president expressed skepticism about its approval in this legislature, despite having a Valencian minister, Arcadi España. He attributed the delay to the rejection generated by Pedro Sánchez's decision to agree on the model with Esquerra before consulting regional presidents, insisting that the main demand of the Comunitat Valenciana is the transitional equalization fund.
Finally, Llorca also addressed his relationship with former president Carlos Mazón, describing it as "very cordial," and defended the hiring of his partner at the Diputación de València, assuring that she obtained the position through a regulated procedure and without preferential treatment.
