The Valencian Association of Writers and Literary Critics (CLAVE) announced the winners of the 2026 Valencian Literary Critics' Awards, held at the La Rambleta Cultural Center in the city of València. This 45th edition celebrated outstanding works in Dramatic Literature, Essay and Criticism, Narrative, and Poetry, along with a special career achievement award.
In Dramatic Literature, the award went to David Sánchez Pacheco for his play Glory Hole, published by Balèria. The jury highlighted the play's exploration of themes such as father-child relationships with pre-teens, invasion of privacy, and minors' consumption of pornography, as well as its use of the Valencian language and dramatic-narrative structure.
Meanwhile, Juan Carlos Lozano Felices received the award in Essay and Criticism for Proyecto Mosaicum (Frutos del Tiempo). The jury praised the book for its captivating and well-documented emotional journey through the musical influences that shaped young generations in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
In Narrative, Nacho López Murria was awarded for La enfermedad de los viajes en el tiempo (Libros Walden), described as a social and cultural adventure through a recognizable and nostalgic Spain, presented as a fantastic dystopia.
The Poetry award was given to Natxo Vidal for Serenata de huesos (Olé Libros). This poetry collection was recognized for its conceptual originality, contemporary relevance, emotional depth, and irony, despite addressing themes of loss.
The plenary jury presented a special award to Juan Luis Mira for his trilogy Teatro contra la desmemoria, published by the Instituto Juan Gil-Albert, acknowledging his significant dramatic career.
The judging panels comprise journalists, writers, and academics who are residents or natives of the Valencian Community. The awards are presided over by critic and university professor José Vicente Peiró, with poet and professor Elia Saneleuterio Temporal serving as secretary.
