The Valencia Provincial Council has completed the repair of 72 wastewater treatment plants in the province, affected by the damages of the DANA storm, with an approximate investment of 20 million euros executed by the public company Egevasa.

The actions, managed by Egevasa, a company dependent on the provincial corporation, have allowed the restoration of these essential water infrastructures. The vice-president of the Provincial Council and head of the Egevasa Board, Natàlia Enguix, highlighted the speed of response and the company's ability to manage ministerial aid.

"The rapid action of the Provincial Council from the very first moment has been key to addressing the damage to water infrastructures, both in supply and purification."

Thanks to this management, the Public Entity for Wastewater Sanitation (EPSAR) only had to contribute 2.5 million euros, a figure significantly lower than the 30 million initially foreseen. The rest of the funding, up to 20 million, has been covered by aid from the Ministry, which has resulted in considerable savings for the Generalitat.
Despite the completion of most repairs, three of the intervened treatment plants, located in Vall dels Alcalans, Siete Aguas, and Godelleta, will require larger-scale works in the coming years. These actions will be necessary to adapt their collectors outside riverbeds, according to the new requirements established by the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation following the flood of October 2024.
The manager of Egevasa, Juan Ángel Conca, explained that these additional works will take more time due to the need for detailed technical studies and, in some cases, expropriations to determine the optimal location for the new infrastructures. Enguix emphasized the role of the Provincial Council as a coordinating element between local and regional administrations to improve efficiency in the management of the integral water cycle.
