This cooperation agreement between the provincial corporation and EPSAR (Public Water Sanitation Entity) aims to improve environmental efficiency and reduce the fiscal burden on smaller municipalities by minimizing costs derived from waste fees.
“"Once we have repaired the past, we step onto the ground to build the future."
The president of the Diputación, Vicent Mompó, described the agreement as «historic», emphasizing the immediate priority of system recovery after the DANA floods. Thanks to the management of the public company Egevasa, the repair of the 72 treatment plants devastated by the flood has already been completed.
The action protocol allocates 36 million euros specifically to the creation of 15 new wastewater treatment plants. EPSAR's works include locations such as Andilla, Almiserà-Llocnou de Sant Jeroni, Requena, Puebla de San Miguel, Alpuente, Albaida, Gavarda, and Sot de Chera. Meanwhile, the Diputación will act in Simat de la Valldigna, Montserrat, Montroi, Alzira, Godelleta-Loma de los Caballeros, Genovés, and Calles.
In addition to new constructions, 15 million euros will be invested in the reconstruction of 62 plants across 13 regions. Technical work will focus on anti-clogging technology, new lifting pumps, electromechanical machinery for sludge management, advanced disinfection and energy saving systems, and the replacement of electrical panels and latest-generation turbines.
The vice-president of the Diputación and president of Egevasa, Natàlia Enguix, stated that the public company is «ready to undertake these works immediately». The objective is to adapt the water infrastructure to current and future European regulations, ensuring environmental quality in all regions.
The distribution of actions by zone includes 11 municipalities in La Ribera Alta and Baixa, 10 localities in La Vall d’Albaida, 8 towns in La Safor and Plana Utiel-Requena, 7 municipalities in La Serranía, and 6 municipalities in La Costera. Key investments will also be made in Hoya de Buñol, Valle de Ayora, Rincón de Ademuz, Camp de Túria, and Camp de Morvedre.
“"This agreement allows us to move from planning to action, ensuring that no municipality, however small, is left behind in water management."
The Minister of Environment, Vicente Martínez Mus, recalled that this agreement, already approved by the Diputación and set to receive the Consell's approval this Friday, will ensure that no municipality is left behind in water management.
