This year's floral composition, visible since Saturday, May 2, 2026, showcases a Mediterranean aesthetic. It uses pitiminí rose bushes in pink tones, accompanied by local daisies, orchids, lavender, and wheat stalks. The plant base incorporates elements typical of Valencian fields such as thyme and green pompom, aiming to connect the artwork with the roots and landscape of the land.
“"This institutional cross, which does not participate in the official competition, aims to be a display of traditions and a legacy that deserves to be preserved, reinforcing the sense of homage through several surprises dedicated to all mothers."
The municipal installation is part of the festivity historically promoted by Lo Rat Penat, an entity that has organized the cross competition since 1949. As a novelty this year, due to the third Jubilee Year of the Holy Chalice, an extraordinary prize, Holy Chalice of Valencia, has been created, endowed with 700 euros and a banner, which all participating crosses in the city can opt for.
The Valencian competition, which has a documented history dating back to 1925, continues to reward the artisanal elaboration of these structures using natural flowers, plants, water features, and light, consolidating itself as one of the most deeply rooted cultural manifestations in the capital of the Turia.
