The València City Council has approved its ordinary Public Employment Offer (OEP) for 2026, which includes a total of 376 positions, aiming to strengthen the city's essential services.

The agreement, reached unanimously at the General Negotiation Table, allocates 256 positions for open competition and 120 for internal promotion of municipal staff. This call is based on the replacement rate set by the Central Government, which limits hiring capacity to the number of vacancies registered the previous year, mainly due to retirements.
Among the new additions, 70 positions for Local Police agents are highlighted for open competition, with an additional 30 for internal promotion, including two for Principal Commissioner. Vacancies are also foreseen in other higher ranks such as 47 officers, 14 inspectors, and 5 intendants. In the emergency services area, 20 firefighter positions are included for open access and 10 more for internal promotion.
In the technical and administrative fields, the OEP includes 26 positions for general administration technicians and 18 for administrative staff. Furthermore, qualified profiles are reinforced with 10 doctors, 7 industrial engineers, 6 architects, 5 economists, 5 IT specialists, and 5 veterinarians. Positions in civil engineering, telecommunications, and various technical engineering fields are also contemplated.
Social services also receive a significant boost with 9 positions for social work, 5 for social integration, and others for mid-level profiles related to social care. These are complemented by positions in municipal trades and services, such as service officers or works inspection. In addition to new access positions, the offer includes 120 for internal promotion and an additional forecast of 168 positions currently held by interim staff who will be incorporated into stabilization processes.

"This Public Employment Offer for 2026 responds to the will to continue reducing the temporality of public employment in the València City Council and aims to increase the staff of essential services for citizens, such as the Local Police, Firefighters, and municipal Social Services."
