This collaboration, now a decade old, seeks to foster athletic talent emerging from the classrooms of universities in the Comunitat Valenciana. The signing ceremony for the agreement took place this Monday at the facilities of the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, bringing together rectors, vice-rectors, and institutional representatives, along with the Foundation's director, Juan Miguel Gómez.
This agreement symbolizes a strategic alliance for the present and future of university sports. The rector of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), José Esteban Capilla, participated in the signing, emphasizing the UPV's strong commitment to a model of integral, competitive, and value-driven students.
The agreement allows the university community to support high-level athletes who balance training and studies at the UPV. Furthermore, it provides visibility for the competitions in which the University participates, especially the CAEU, and highlights the presence of the Comunitat de l'Esport brand on the UPV's official equipment.
The UPV's athletic talent has been recognized again this year through the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation Awards, which honor students who achieve the best balance between academic and athletic performance. Among the 2025 awardees are Bernat Ferrer, for his mountain races, and Pau Gimeno, a leading figure in wrestling. Student Alba Rey, a karate practitioner, was also honored with an Extraordinary Award for her exemplary career and excellent academic record.
The renewal of this agreement strengthens a decade of joint growth, with the UPV playing an essential role. The collaboration ranges from supporting high-level athletes to providing scholarships for students competing internationally, establishing the UPV as an institution that promotes a leading model of university sports in Spain.
