This non-competitive relay race has traversed the Valencian-speaking territories in 17 stages, carrying the Flame of the Language to the European Parliament. The event has been a success, with significant participation and public support for the flame bearers in each locality.
Linguistic unity is recognized by international Romance linguistics, all universities worldwide, courts of Justice, and the AVL.
The initiative to demand official status for Valencian in Europe is viewed positively and has the support of numerous groups. The warm reception portends continued mobilization over time, which is encouraging for language advocates.
However, concern is expressed over the negative attitude of some sectors, such as attacks on a public figure for wearing a sticker supporting the native language. The situation of Valencian is described as delicate, lacking sufficient normalizing and standardizing support from the Generalitat, which hinders its survival in a context of Castilianization.
Readers are invited to reflect on the presence of Valencian in areas such as ministries, courts, large stores, cinema, or product labeling, to understand the importance of its defense and the paradox that its presence may be sought in Europe while facing difficulties in its own territory.
