The campaign aims to rescue dishes, flavors, and customs passed down through generations, paying tribute to the elderly, considered the "authentic guardians of popular cuisine" made with local products and family tradition.
The president of the Municipal Board, Paula Llobet, highlighted that the initiative is "a project to recover the memory and roots of our neighborhood." "Behind every recipe there is a family story, a way of understanding life, and a tradition that deserves to be preserved," she stated, emphasizing the sentimental and cultural value of these dishes.
Llobet also stressed that many of these recipes represent a sustainable, economical, and healthy cuisine. The campaign is aimed at people born between 1930 and 1985, who live or have lived in the Russafa Board area. Proposals will be submitted in four categories, with special emphasis on being healthy, economical, simple, and incorporating products from the Valencian Community.
Participating recipes could be incorporated into the City's Historical Archive, aiming to preserve this culinary heritage. "We want these recipes not to be lost and to continue being part of the history of València," explained Llobet.
The campaign is supported by the Association of Russafa Market Vendors, which will award the best recipe. The submission deadline is June 22nd. Proposals can be sent by email to [jmruzafa@valencia.es](mailto:jmruzafa@valencia.es) with the subject line: “Campanya Recetas de cocina y mucho más”.
