The Valencian Language Academy (AVL) approved the inclusion of the term "fotoreclam" in its linguistic plenary session this Friday, a proposal originating from humorist Maria Juan. Juan, who hosted the AVL's 25th-anniversary gala a few weeks ago, suggested the term between performances.
The new term, intended to valencianize the anglicism 'fotocall', is defined as: "A scheduled session, for an advertising campaign, a film premiere, or another social event, where audiovisual media photograph or record socially relevant individuals attending, generally for promotional purposes".
This approval took place during the first linguistic plenary session with the new academics who took office a few days ago.
