The president of Ford Iberia highlighted the pride in seeing how BlueCruise technology, which allows hands to be safely removed from the steering wheel on motorways, is manufactured in Valencia. This advanced system, which illuminates the instrument cluster in blue when it takes control of steering, acceleration, and braking, represents a step towards more relaxed and safer driving.
The Ford Kuga has officially become the first car produced in Spain approved for hands-free driving on motorways and highways across Europe with BlueCruise technology. This achievement positions the Ford plant in Almussafes as key in European automotive manufacturing, especially considering Spain is Europe's second-largest manufacturer and ninth globally in the automotive sector.
Ford has integrated this technology, previously introduced in the Mustang Mach-E, into its best-selling models to make it accessible to a larger number of drivers. The Ford Puma is available with BlueCruise starting from €26,500, the new all-electric Puma Gen-E from €29,900, and the Ford Kuga from €31,800. Additionally, the special series BlueCruise Edition has been launched for these three models, featuring a new "Vapor Blue" color, black accents, and 19" wheels, with the BlueCruise system activated for life without subscription fees.
Safety is a fundamental pillar of this technology. BlueCruise is a Level 2 assistant that requires the driver to keep their eyes on the road, monitored by an infrared camera. If attention wanes, the system issues a warning, and if there is no reaction, the car stops progressively and safely. It is presented as an intelligent "co-pilot" that reduces fatigue on long journeys.
BlueCruise technology is already a reality in Spain, with 28,500 kilometers of approved motorways and highways (Blue Zones), covering 90% of the rapid network. Coverage extends to over 133,000 kilometers in 16 European countries, allowing for borderless travel with a new level of comfort and safety.
