One month after the conclusion of the previous year's festivities, Fallas commissions are opening their doors to welcome the new festive cycle. The 'Apuntà', a day of socialization and invitation to the neighborhood, serves to formalize continuity within the commission and attract new members, although many already have full rosters.
In addition to the 'Apuntà', collective activity intensifies with the first group exaltations. Following those held by Mercat de Jesús and El Carme at the end of March, this weekend it is the turn of the Centro and Camins al Grau groups. The Centro group is particularly significant as it is the federation of the two main Fallas Queens of València, as well as two members of the court of honor.
“"Commissions are massively opening their doors to get started one month after the previous year ended."
The Federation of Ingenuity and Grace will present the Eugeni awards this Saturday, April 18, to the artists and commissions that won first prize in this category, for both senior and children's divisions, from València and Torrent. The event will take place at eleven in the morning at the La Petxina Cultural Center.
The Junta Central Fallera also celebrates its first official event with the Balls al Carrer, which will take place this Sunday, April 19, in the Plaza de Manises, and next weekend, marking the closing of the previous year. Likewise, the festival of San Vicente Ferrer continues with events at the altars of Ángel Custodio, Mercado Colón, and Mocadoret. At the latter, on Saturday night, one of the city's most massive 'dansaes' of the year, the dansà del Mocadoret, will be held, moving from Plaza Lope de Vega to Plaza de la Virgen.
