The Corpus Christi festivities in Valencia are entering their main days, applying logistical adaptation criteria to their initial events. With the aim of ensuring the proper development of the religious and cultural program, as well as the safety of attendees, the organization has modified the traditional routes and itineraries of the first night to keep them away from the concentration that the educational sector is holding in the Plaza de la Virgen.
The day began as planned with the traditional Traslado de las Rocas, in which the triumphal carts and elements of the Bestiario were moved to the vicinity of the Plaza de la Virgen, leading into the Sopar de L’Escaleta. However, subsequent events required readjustments in their location and route.
The Nit d’Albaes modified its usual route to avoid passing through the central area of the Plaza de la Virgen, using alternative routes to access the Palacio Arzobispado directly, where the official institutional reception took place, without any incidents.
The concert by the Banda Municipal de València was also relocated. The artistic direction and local authorities opted to move the stage to the facade of the Casa Vestuario, on the opposite side of the square from where the protesters are located, to ensure ideal acoustic conditions and public well-being.
The organization has reported that the modifications are strictly logistical and route-based, so the schedules for institutional events and the Traslado de las Rocas remain unchanged with respect to the official program.
These measures coincide with the twentieth day of indefinite strike in non-university public education in the Comunitat Valenciana. According to official data provided by the Conselleria de Educación, the overall participation in the strikes was 6.04%. By provinces, the breakdown showed 11.88% in Castellón, 5.53% in València, and 4.56% in Alicante.
After a meeting lasting more than six and a half hours, the Conselleria de Educación presented the unions with a proposal called “Global Agreement for the improvement and transformation of public education in the Comunitat Valenciana,” which includes an investment of 3.3 billion euros. To continue discussions and seek the de-escalation of the strike, the administration has summoned union representatives to a new negotiation table next Monday at 10:00 AM.
