Criminality in five major municipalities of l'Horta Nord showed an uneven evolution during the fourth quarter of 2025, with an overall increase primarily driven by cybercrime, which is consolidating as the main engine of change in criminal patterns.

The analysis of crime data in Burjassot, Alboraya, Moncada, Paterna, and Puçol reveals a growing trend in digital crimes, while conventional offenses show more varied behaviors. This transformation reflects a progressive shift towards infractions committed in online environments, which are more complex for authorities to trace and prosecute.
Globally, Burjassot recorded the most significant increase, with a 12.4% rise in criminal offenses, followed by Alboraya with 9.5%. In contrast, Moncada and Puçol experienced a reduction in total criminality, with -3.5% and -3.6% respectively, while Paterna maintained almost total stability with a slight increase of 0.3%.
In Alboraya, the 9.5% increase in total crimes is mainly due to cybercrime, which surged by 48.5%. Computer fraud grew by 48% and other cybercrimes by 51.7%. Regarding conventional criminality, notable decreases were observed in violent robberies (-21.7%) and burglaries (-41.4%), but a worrying increase in crimes against sexual freedom (+45.5%) and vehicle thefts (+26.3%).
Burjassot led the growth with a 12.4% increase in infractions, driven by a 57.3% rise in cybercrime, with computer fraud growing by 57.8%. Thefts (+21.5%) and vehicle thefts (+37.5%) also increased, while crimes against sexual freedom decreased by -17.6%.
Moncada was one of the municipalities with a decrease in total criminality (-3.5%), thanks to a -9.2% drop in conventional crime, especially in burglaries (-52%) and vehicle thefts (-50%). However, increases were recorded in violent robberies (+33.3%), injuries (+100%), and drug trafficking (+100%), with cybercrime increasing by 22.1%.
In Paterna, criminality remained almost stable (+0.3%), with a -7.4% decrease in conventional crimes, including violent robberies (-34.7%) and burglaries (-28.5%). Conversely, crimes against sexual freedom increased by +55% and drug trafficking by +43.8%, with cybercrime growing by 27.5%.
Finally, Puçol reduced its total criminality by 3.6%, with a -3.8% drop in conventional crimes, including thefts (-15.2%), violent robberies (-27.3%), and burglaries (-19.4%). Despite this, significant increases were observed in vehicle thefts (+150%) and attempted homicides (+100%), although cybercrime decreased slightly by -1.9%.
This shift in the criminal model in l'Horta Nord underscores the need to adapt security policies, strengthening digital prevention and cooperation among police forces to address an insecurity increasingly linked to online fraud.
