Cines Babel in València celebrates its 30th anniversary with a special series of 30 films personally selected by Antonio Such, co-founder and programmer of the cinemas, spanning 30 weeks.

Three decades after opening its doors, Cines Babel looks back to celebrate its anniversary. Antonio Such, co-founder and programmer of these independent cinema halls in València, proposes revisiting 30 of the films that have most accompanied him throughout this history, in a series that will last 30 weeks.

"To say '30 best films' seems like pedantry on my part. They are truly the 30 films that I have liked."

The selection, drawn from an archive of over 3,300 programmed films, results in a heterogeneous proposal that includes comedies, tragedies, and animation. Each screening will be accompanied by a brief personal explanation from Such, not only about the films but also the reasons behind their inclusion.
The first confirmed film for the series is Crash, by Paul Haggis. Such recalls that this film left him "hooked to the seat, with a meticulous script," highlighting its reflection on human complexity. The programmer emphasizes his preference for good scripts and believable performances.
The rest of the series will be revealed progressively, but it has been announced that titles from the last four years are deliberately excluded, as "we have seen them recently." The proposal is summarized by the phrase: "If you are lucky enough not to have seen them or not to remember them, this Series is for you."
The 30th anniversary of Cines Babel also coincides with a renovation of its image, signage, cafeteria, and some of its screening rooms.
