The Castelló City Council has taken a key administrative step in the development of the train station area, requesting the Provincial Council to include the urbanization of Castellfort Street and Viena Passage in the Impulsa Plan 2026-2027, at a cost of 1.2 million euros.

This operation, approved by the Local Government Board, seeks partial provincial funding, with an anticipated allocation of 481,000 euros, to advance the urban planning of the western district. In recent months, new parking areas have already come into service in the zone.
The project will connect the two parking lots already executed in previous phases, creating an itinerary between the surroundings of the Jaume I school and the Camí Vell de l'Alcora. As detailed by the municipal government spokesperson, Vicent Sales, the intervention will urbanize Castellfort Street, on the facade of the educational center, and Viena Passage, on its rear side, to complete the adaptation of the school's surroundings and its connection with existing parking facilities.
The first phase enabled 208 spaces in 2023, and the second, inaugurated last December, added another 116 spaces next to Cronista Muntaner Street. With this third phase, the total number of parking spaces will rise to approximately 500. The project timelines will be subject to the corresponding tender and award processes.
In parallel, the municipal government has approved an agreement with the Generalitat Valenciana to regularize the payment for urban sections of interurban bus lines. This agreement sets an allocation of 854,000 euros for 2026 and a total disbursement of 4.4 million euros until 2029, thus avoiding the need for extraordinary credit recognitions. The measure affects routes that run through the municipal area without urban line coverage, such as services to Almassora, Vila-real, or Benicàssim, and includes Tram Line 1 to El Grau and connections with Borriol to integrate these routes into the metropolitan transport system.
Additionally, the Government Board has endorsed two agreements for commercial revitalization, allocating 8,000 euros to the Associació Comerços del Grau and 20,000 euros to Castelló Espai Comercial for campaigns, loyalty programs, and digital visibility enhancement. The consultation phase for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) 2025-2035 has also been activated, opening a 20-day public consultation for entities and groups, which will be complemented by the Mobility Forum before the final proposal.
