The left-wing leader, Rosa Pérez Garijo, received a "great joy" this Saturday upon seeing a post on X (formerly Twitter). Social media is not usually a source of happiness, but for a moment, Pérez had it. The reason: the leader of Esquerra Unida thought that the Minister of Education, Carmen Ortí , had resigned.
It was not a rumor or an interested leak, but simply an incorrect translation. According to the general coordinator of EU, X translates tweets written in Valencian "without permission" and displays them directly in Spanish. This happened to her with a message from the veteran unionist Vicent Mauri .
Specifically, Pérez saw a tweet from the former Intersindical leader that read: "The minister resigns!!" along with a photo of a protest with a banner against Ortí. The problem is that the message was not what Mauri had written, who, in Valencian, had posted: "Consellera dimissió" (Minister resignation). Hence Pérez's momentary delight, realizing instantly that "X had translated again, and badly at that".
