The city welcomed Sant Jordiet with a shower of red and white carnations, as he accompanied the Relic of Sant Jordi in its transfer from the temple to the Parish of Santa María. This event is part of the second day of the Festera Trilogy, entirely dedicated to Sant Jordi.
The boy, who resides in London, maintains a strong connection to the festival, which is a family tradition. His grandfather and great-grandfather were captains of the filà Llana, and he has returned to Alcoy to assume this significant role. Before the events, he expressed his excitement about shooting the arrows, one of the most anticipated moments of the following day.
The Sant Jordiet costume, designed by the artist Aitana Martí, the boy's grandmother who passed away a few months ago, has been one of the most commented elements. A representative of the filà Llana highlighted that the design remained faithful to the artist's original vision, who wanted the child to represent an angel.
The attire includes a cuirass with engravings inspired by Alcoy's modernism. The artisan Santi Valor explained that it imitates the skin of a benevolent dragon, toothless and with red eyes, like the flag of Sant Jordi. The public showed its admiration for the costume, describing it as spectacular and very different, with details like the shoes and the bib being particularly well-received.
With this event, Alcoy continues to be immersed in its Festera Trilogy, a celebration that combines tradition, emotion, and generational handover, keeping alive one of the most emblematic festivals of the Valencian Community.
