The Alicante Concert Society has presented its artistic program for the 2026/2027 season, a series that will primarily take place at the Teatro Principal in Alicante and includes major classical music figures.

The 2026/2027 season of the Alicante Concert Society promises a rich and varied musical experience, focusing on international projection, stylistic diversity, and the presence of established performers and young talents. The series will primarily unfold at the Teatro Principal in Alicante, with continued support from the Alicante Concert Society Foundation.
The program will feature a wide range of formats, from piano and violin recitals to chamber music, vocal performances, and specialized ensembles. The society's president, Telma Bonet, noted that this season is the first directed by Alfonso Ramón-Borja, following the passing of Rafael Beltrán, who led the entity from its inception. Bonet announced an increase in chamber groups and the inclusion of an orchestra, blending renowned artists with emerging talents.
The season will kick off on October 5th with the Wanderer Trio. Other notable events include a recital by violinist Janine Jansen with pianist Denis Kozhukhin on October 21st, and a performance by the Balthasar Neumann Orchestra in November. In February, pianist Javier Perianes will perform alongside violist Zimmermann and cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras. The season finale in late May will feature violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann and pianist Dmytro Choni.
The deputy director of the Teatro Principal, María Dolores Padilla, highlighted the program's excellence and its historical connection to the theater, dating back over 50 years. The season also strengthens early and baroque music with international ensembles such as Gli Incogniti (led by Amandine Beyer), La Ritirata (directed by Josetxu Obregón with Nuria Rial), and A Nocte Temporis (directed by Reinoud Van Mechelen with Anna Besson).
Unique instrumental proposals will be presented, including a concert by accordionist Sofía Ros and a performance by the Liber-Quartet. Programming manager Alfonso Ramón-Borja emphasized the 50th anniversary of the death of Óscar Esplá, the society's honorary president, and the approach to Beethoven's bicentennial. The program will feature baroque, romantic, and contemporary music, with over 120 artists.
In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Óscar Esplá's death, the 1st National Piano Competition Óscar Esplá 2026 will be organized in collaboration with the Superior Conservatory of Music of Alicante and the Fundación Mediterráneo, aiming to discover and promote new keyboard talents. The program continues its support for young performers, including pianist Julius Asal, pianist Daniel Bertomeu, soprano Elionor Martínez, and accordionist Sofía Ros. A new edition of the Alicante Concert Society-Oftalvist Interpretation Award will also be held.
On December 12th, the Basilica of Santa María will host the IV Extraordinary Christmas Concert featuring the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid. The Alicante Concert Society Foundation will maintain its social action programs, including educational concerts, scholarships, and charity events.
