The town of l'Alcora has commenced its Easter Bullfighting Festivities with a countryside horse run and the testing of the first wild bull from the La Jotera ranch, thus initiating an intense festive program.

The inaugural day of the Easter Bullfighting Festivities in l'Alcora began with a spectacular countryside horse run. Numerous riders departed from the Muserola area to arrive at the bullfighting enclosure in San Roque square, after traversing San Francisco street in a well-controlled race.
In the afternoon, enthusiasts enjoyed the testing of the first wild bull, named Vistoso, number 13, year 1. This specimen belongs to the La Jotera ranch, owned by brothers Jorge and Óscar Carnicer.
The La Jotera ranch, located on the Mas del Coq and Mas de la Pausa estates in the municipality of Cabanes, was established after three years of bureaucratic and sanitary procedures. The Carnicer brothers acquired the animals from the Herederos de Jacinto Ortega ranch in Jaén in March 2021 and named their ranch in honor of their mother, originally from Mosqueruela (Teruel), who instilled in them a passion for bullfighting and sang jotas.

"The challenge was to consolidate it and preserve a unique and different bull, so that a genetic jewel of the brave cattle field, like bulls, endures, even more so in Castellón, where there are few ranchers because pastures are not abundant."

In addition to La Jotera's wild bull, cattle from Hilario Príncep and the La Espuela ranch, also from l'Alcora, were exhibited, to which the second 'embolado' bull of the night belonged. Sunday's program includes children's bull carts, heifers, release of cattle from Hermanos Bellés, and the exhibition of another wild bull from La Jotera, named Puntero, which will be 'embolado' at night.
Concurrently, Adela Vaquero, Adrián de la Cruz, Alejandro Reyes, Iván Garrido, Lucía Pallarés, Ramón Salvador, Desirée Mollón, María Escribano, Carmen Bellés, Sara Tomás, Clementina Monferrer, Jorge Lázaro, and Desirée Sánchez participated in the XXX Pilgrimage through the Hermitages of l'Alcora. This 35 km route passed through the hermitages of Calvario, San Joaquín and Santa Ana (from Araya), San Cristóbal, San Vicente and San Miguel (from La Foya), concluding at El Salvador, at the foot of the Castle of l'Alcalatén, before heading to the Assumption parish church.
