The Sant Joan d'Alacant City Council has intensified maintenance and security work in public spaces affected by the Santa Faz Pilgrimage 2026, scheduled for this Thursday, April 16, to ensure the safety and smooth running of the event.

The Urban Image Department has been carrying out, for weeks, various adaptation, conservation, and improvement actions in key points of the municipality and the surroundings of the Santa Faz fair. These works have focused especially on Hospital Avenue, Santa Faz Square, La Verónica Street, and Alicante Avenue.
The interventions include sidewalk improvements, asphalt conditioning, and repainting of public road elements, as well as the review of water fountains. In parallel, the Parks and Gardens service has prepared green areas to ensure optimal conditions of use, safety, and image during the pilgrimage.
From the Services and Maintenance area, in addition to the repair and conditioning of spaces, an essential function is performed within the general security device. 31 concrete 'jersey' type security elements, weighing 750 kg each, have been installed to reinforce the protection of attendees. Anti-vehicle fences will also be placed around the entire perimeter of access to Alicante Avenue, and temporary no-parking signs will be installed 48 hours in advance.
Other planned actions include traffic inversions in various road sections, which implies the installation of temporary signage and the movement of containers. Traffic diversions will be carried out at the accesses to the municipality from El Campello, with more than 150 cones and other signaling elements to organize traffic and facilitate alternative routes.
On Santa Faz Thursday, work will begin at 5:00 AM with the activation of controlled traffic lanes and continuous support for the Local Police. These tasks will extend until Friday morning. A two-person standby team will remain active until Sunday at 9:00 PM for the progressive removal of devices and the return to normal traffic conditions.
